Commissioner Dave Fisher

Hello, my name is Dave Fisher, and I am honored to serve as the Police Commissioner of the Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department. Having lived in Dutchess County for over 40 years, where I reside with my wife and three daughters, I am deeply committed to the safety and well-being of this community.

I bring over 28 years of law enforcement experience, including 22 years as a supervisor. During my career, I proudly served 18 years with the Greenburgh SWAT team, with 16 of those years as a team leader and 11 years as Sniper Team Leader. My experience in tactical operations and crisis management has earned me awards such as two Medals of Honor, a Police Combat Cross, and the prestigious FBI Award for Meritorious Achievement.

I hold numerous certifications and instructor titles from New York State, the FBI, the DEA, and the NTOA. I have had the privilege of training alongside elite groups, including the FBI, NYS State Police, British SAS, Navy SEALs, Delta Force, LAPD, NYPD, U.S. Special Forces, the Israeli Defense Force, local SWAT teams, and various municipal police departments. These collaborations have shaped my approach to leadership, training, and operational excellence. I have led advanced tactical courses, supervised crisis intervention simulations, and mentored officers in leadership development.

Since my appointment as Police Commissioner, my focus has been on enhancing officer morale, improving department efficiency, and integrating modern technologies that benefit both our officers and the community we serve. I am dedicated to building strong relationships within the community, ensuring public safety, and promoting transparency, accountability, and respect.​
